dt 50mx

hi all, im new to this site.
hope some one out there can help me.
i recently aquired a dt50mx for my son to learn on.
can anyone tell me will a rd/dt 80 barrell & piston fit onto the bottom end or do i need to get a big bore kit.

you can make the 80 topend fot the 50 but its a lot of hassle..the problem lies in the stroke is longer on the 80cc....so you would have to machine the correct amout of material off the top or bottom of the barrel depending on if you wanted more topend power or lower end power.
Much more simplar to go with the big bore kit....I had one of these bikes and fitted an Autisa kit the bike managed 68mph with me on no problem at all.
Dont buy a cheap cast iron kit from somewhere like m&p if your looking for more power as these are only replacement barrels and give no real increase at all.
A good thing to get hold of at the same time is the 80 carb and manifold or else buy a 21mm delorto kit most big bore suppliers can get one for you.
The std exhaust pipe is supprisingly good with a big bore kit but to release those ponies you will need a better one for more higher rpm usage.
I would also advise on keeping the std oil pump but add 0.5-1% premix oil to the fuel for added protection.

i dont want to spend too much on the bike as its only for my son to learn on.
