Just a quick introduction and a question.
My name is Will, and I am 17.
I passed my A2 test a few weeks back with Link (Great guys), and live in Galleywood.
So now I am on the hunt for a bike I can get restricted, was hoping I could get a few suggestions.
I have around 1,800 to spend on the bike.
I will be doing around 10 miles a day hopefully all year round, so it would be nice to have a reliable bike.
I have been thinking that the hornet sounds like it could be what I need?
But I'm really a faired sports bike fan, how would a Gsxr 600 ride restricted?
Thanks
~Will

Hello mate welcome to the site..... I took my A2 test about nearl 2 years ago now.....
I was like you "I want a GSXR600 or 750 restricted etc" Well i was told to no bother with them as restricted they dont ride as well as some others.............. I tested a couple but in the ended went with the Suzuki Bandit 650, 600 restricts just as good there a really good bike restricted because there is torque there and insurance is cheap plus the bike is so reliable its unbelieveable...... I have ridden it alot, and sometimes left it for a month at a time, when i come back to it, it starts first time on the button and everything so over all i would recommend one of the,......... I live in writtle mate, maybe meet up for a ride when ya sort ya bike out
i hope that helps you
Welcome to EB.............:clap:clap:clap
This would be a great first bike............The Suzuki SV650s I found it on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SV650S-K2-SILVER-4170-MILES-ONLY-SV650-S-SV-650_W0QQitemZ190141072103QQihZ009QQcategoryZ9808QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

the sv is a good idea, my mate had one restricted and he had a blast on it, the handling is amazing and the torque wont tail off too much restricted. And when you get it de-restricted it'll be even more fun!!!!

Welcome :)
Where abouts in Galleywood are you? You may have seen me hooning around on a Blue R6 with Yellow leathers and rim tape.
Restricting a sports 600 has its ups and downs...
Pro's
1. you look great, and your friends will be impressed
2.You have a sports 6
Con's
1. It'll be slow
2. If you drop it, it'll cost ALOT
3. it won't feel like its riding properally with restrictors in
4. the restrictors won't stay in long
5. insurance is sooooooooooo expensive!
etc etc
But saying that i loved/love mine and am glad i stuck to my guns and got the R6 at 18.
Its your choice, i'd say the wise choice is a 400 but then i didn't listen and glad i didn't.
PM me, if you want to have a sit on and poke around the R6 to see how you fair the size.

welcome to the froum, good advise from podd above, i think the sv isnt a bad suggestion and oooodles of fun, either that or a 400 great to throw around soeme bends until those restricters come out, however once again you will be tempted to de-restrict it, and also in my mind they are WAY over priced.
on the flip side, i dont know anyone who was restricted anyway, sooooo........ (get a 6)

The SV650 isn't a bad bike to have restricted my youngest son has just bought mine having passed his A2 in July. It's in a low insurance group so isn't as expensive as the Bandit, it's loads of fun aswell as being fairly forgiving for the novice rider. I had mine for 6 years before selling it to him and I've just gone and bought another. My middle son also had the SV650 as his first big bike so rode it restricted for 2 years and he's only now talking about changing it after riding it for a further year unrestricted.

Welcome,
No good asking me about restricted bikes, when I was 17 I rode round the block in Grays and an examiner watched me and I suppose because I never fell of he gave me a full lisence, happy days !

ive got a SV650 pointy 3 1/2 years old 35k miles, blue.
havent used it since i bought my Falco last Dec, except for the odd run up the road to keep it running.
keep meaning to get MOT and sell it, paid £1625 for it, i would take same with a years MOT, but you would need to restrict it, let me know if you want a look at it, Phil

I have not been able to get on the internet much lately, But here is a update:
Thanks for all your suggestions but in the end I went for steve jba's Rizla Srad.
The Bike has since been restricted down to 33bhp, and seems to be running well.
Hopefully will be able to meet up soon.
