Hi guys n gals !

I'm a new owner of a gixer 600 K1 having not owned a bike for over 20 years. My deepest regret is having left it so long to get back on 2 wheels. I'm making up for lost time now tho !

Can anyone help me with info on how easy/difficult it is to fit an underpan etc to replace the standard rear mudguard etc?

I've seen several suitable underpans but a bit of a techno dinosaur when it comes to removing & replacing parts. I want to add smaller indicators/reg plate etc.

Any advice gratefully received.

Safe riding.

Rooster.

Firstly, Welcome..

An underpan..???, blimey, you must be old...lol.

Anyway, on a serious note, their straight forward and fairly easy to fit, as are a smaller set of indicators..

Greetings Rooster,
You must be an old un like me, fitting an undertray should be a simple affair as long as you buy a quality on with the holes pre drilled, removing the old original is a doddle.

Ok Ok I may not have been 'hip' with my description of what I want, how about 'tail guard' then as per Powerbronze brochure!!?? Is there some clue as to how to remove the old mudguard asembly (if the word mudguard isn't too pre 1987!*?).

Apprciate the responses even tho I feel even more ancient now :rockon

You'll get all the instruction with ya new "undertray".
However it won't hurt to have a manual for ya bike if ya not sure on takin things apart.

Other than thats its a straight forward affair.. The only thing i will say is that ya may have to take off the luggage hooks on the underside of the sub frame, unless you want to keep them then you may have to cut out 2 sections in the undertray to allow for them to stick through..
I decided against keepin them and took em off with an angle grinder..
Mine's a powerbronze and took me about half a day from start to finish..

Thanks for the advice, I was eyeing up the Powerbronze version and now know that's what I want. No details in the Haynes manual about removal of the rear mudguard and having removed the seat and tail section of my gixxer, the whole plastic assembly including the moulded recessess into which the electrics sit, looks like it needs removing. Is this right or is there a short cut? This will be a winter project, got 20 years worth of getting my knees down and wearing the tyre edges to catch up with !! :laugh1

There's no need to remove the whole of the original undertray, as all your electrics would have nothin to sit in.. you need to basically chop the off what you don't need from the rear. Can be a bit fiddly, but like you said, got plenty of time...
