Kawasaki ZXR400L
£2200
This bike was built by Dynotech and then subsequently rebuilt and refreshed for the North West 200 by Bob Farnham and on its last Dyno run was showing 76bhp at the wheel
The bike did not get to race due to the previous owner Steve Heneghan (now Superstock Cup) having to concentrate on the R1 that he was also racing and as such it completed 4 practice laps before being parked up.
Extremely quick bike that is more than a match for any clubman or rookie bike on the grid and would also compete well in the Super bike 400 class too with the right rider.
I bought the bike with the intention of doing at least 1 track day a month before getting it refreshed over Xmas 2007, however given that I have spent most of my weekends this year in the pits spannering I haven’t had a chance to actually ride it more than 3 track days.
The most this bike has had to do was drag my carcass round Brands GP and Snetterton a couple of times in the Intermediate group, so its hardly been run in really, its using the standard CDI and redlines at 14500 (built for reliability) rather than the full 16000rpm that is achievable with a Dynatech Ignition kit.
I had a minor off on it at Coram Curve, Snetterton (low speed & low side on the grass) which put a small dink in the link pipe and a minor scuff on the can itself, it is purely cosmetic as the bike runs fine, there was no other damage to the bike other than the fairings on the right hand side of the bike getting a few small cracks, this however was repaired a week later professionally and so I had the whole bike completely resprayed too.
