Hey there,
After losing my confidence on my cbr600 6 years ago I have taken the plunge and gone out and bought a brand new SVR600S only to drop it at a standstill and leave the fairing needing a total repaint so how gutted am i?
If anyone wants to go out for a slowish spin give me a shout, Im not one of these 160mph up the A12 sort of riders, more and nice ride to Burnham on crouch for a bag of chips sort of girl.
Also anyone wanna teach me how to ride pillion? I just aint got the confidence to take my Son on the back of my bike as I have never taken pillion before.
Any advice for building up my confidence gratefully received I really have got to stop going round roundabouts upright it just doesnt look good or cool lol.
Love Paris:jumping2

Welcome to EB :)
On the pillion side of life, how old is your son? i wouldnt even contemplate taking anyone i cared for on the back of a bike unless i was 100% confident with doing so (but thats just me being over protective i suppose :D ).
Thats probably why i rip the pillion pegs of any bike i get too (apart from the fact that sports bikes shouldnt have them :D :D ).

Welcome to the site Paris!:grin2
Depending entirely on the kind of person you/they are and the sort of bike you ride.. it can be an easy ride with pillion or the worse ride ever..
Both I, and my brother both take pillion him riding a ZZR600 (Sports Tourer) and myself riding a Kwak GT550 (Tourer), and what these guys say is right.. you have to be 100% comfortable..:grin2
Have you ever rode pillion yourself?? As in, on the back of someone elses bike? Be a good form of practice and advice.. that way you know how the person on the back feels when your riding..:reading
My personal advice is pick a road you know and do a few shuttle pillion runs, then when your confident at that, pick a route you know well.. and slowly build up until you can ride long distances confidently.. dont overestimate yourself.. but at the same time dont underestimate your ability to ride a bike and take pillion..:grin2
Take it easy, and dont rush.. at the end of the day the only person who can decide what to do is you... so good luck, and hope to see you at the nwh next wenesday:D

There quite a few of us girlies who enjoy a sedate pace and Im always pretty much up for a ride out (work depending)!
Becky takes her other half as pillion - she'd be a top bird to get tips off and her other half (the Captain) is fairly light in the weight stakes......lololol.:jumping2
See ya soon and ride safe....:grin2

Hey Mickey
Cheers for that I have been told to look out for you as you go to the NWH on a Wednesday. As I say im not really up for tearing up and down the motorway dont do it for me. Like being on the back of someone else doing it lol but I prefer the twisty country road of the Essex countryside or a sea breeze along the coats.
Bloody hell makes me sound very boring doesnt it?
p.s. will anyone have any scratch remover with them wed lol im sure a few of them will come out my fairing, very embarassing when im at the lights and people can see Ive dropped it already

OK im feeling even more stupid now, my Brother bought all his mates round to look at his big Sisters super cool brand new bike, being the flash mare that I am I just had to get on the bike start her up rev the engine...... pull forward to scare them all and................... forgot the friggin chain around the front wheel. How the hell I wasnt catapulted off I do not know so maybe dropping the bike and having to stay pinned underneath it for 5 mins till someone stopped and came and pulled it off me was not so bad, at least it was the gravels fault I dropped the bike and not my bigheadness :(

Hi Paris
Welcome to the site as mentioned taking a pillion or pilchard on the back depending who's sitting behind you can be a daunting prospect. To be honest up until my return from the IOM this year I have never taken any one on the back of my bike, as it scared me. Not for me mind but for there safety as I always thought I would do something stupid, however my missus nagged and nagged me until I relented. I made her where all the gear and bless her she stood like a shop dummy while I dressed her. After running through the drill to get on and off the bike and what to do on corners of we set. Round the block to start, then again and again, until she got bored and wanted to go further.
Ended up a long ride even though only in rather large circles, but it gave me the confidence and her that I'm not a nutty bastido when it comes to riding :motorbike so now its no problem, unless they weigh a couple of ton.:grin3
So take your boy round the bloke see how you go and then build up from there. Good luck anyway and welcome to EB.
Soory I'm Late but welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the site, I dont often do pillin anymore as it would overload the bike but once you get the hang of it its quite easy, you just have to remember that you are no longer riding for yourself.
As for going for a ride, maybe see on one, although on the one occasion I rode with the peps I couldnt see them, I am a bit slow. They assure me they can ride sower.
Hope you enjoy the site
