Coilovers mate.

Didn't get that far.

The only thing left to do was an interior re-trim and the air.

Didn't bother in the end.

Starts to get even more expensive.

And the ball and chain didn't approve.

She didn't however make me sell it.

She said keep it as I loved it.

Just didn't make sense though.

Nevermind.

Life's not over yet?

Trust me, when you have put that much time, love and money into a vehicle, it keeps improving over the years. In your head anyway. My old mini-cooper that I built from scratch is probably in the scrappy now, but in my head its still out there beating up scoobies :)

Cheers fella.

Did love it.

2 wheels is more fun, but at heart I still prefer 4.

Maybe shouldn't say that too loud.

It's not something I would have done myself but each to their own.

I'm not a chav as you can see.

Some mods on my car you would have thought were original.

Yeah I know how you feel.

Mine was not an everyday car.

Lucky I had a company car but then that's why I sold it as it didn't get used.

I'm gonna cry...... :-(

Im the same fella - i prefer 4 wheels mainly because im a crap rider and i like my comfort and a bit more safety. I love making cars go faster, and look better but htey cost a fortune, then you either end up with somethin rotten at the end of it, or you have to sell it cos its just costing too much.

problem i got now is that the drive to work is 2 miles on dual carriageway, then 10 miles on stupid little roads full of stop start traffic - so anything nice or fast is no good. So i bought another bike, and gonna have to get a dull car.

i love bikes tho, jsut not very good at riding lol!

your car looked sweet!!! what engine work was done to it?

Remap, uprated DV, Bigger turbo intake, Sports cat & full stainless system.

Made just under 250bhp.

I do miss it.

Never mind, time to grow up.

not bad atall from those mods! i have had some turbos in the past, in fact i sold my last one yesterday afternoon. The first few i had, i spent a fortune on them making them go faster but it was a labour of love and learning that kept me going. It didnt cost as much for me to do tho as im a mechanic so the labour was free apart from engineering works.

I dont think it should be 'time to grow up' - i know what you mean, but you never really 'grow' out of cars and bikes, you just have less time or you start using your money for more important things like mortgages or things you have to be responsible about. shame but true!

at least you can look back and remember how much you enjoyed it!

you on the uk-mkivs forum? i recognise your golf...

was it a 1.8t 180 or 150? Looks mint...!

I would never sell my golf... i bet you feel like you've sold a part of yourself... lol

Yes mate I was.

It was 150, there's no difference with the engine though, it's just a different map so it produces more power from stock.

They still achieve the same power with the same mods.

I do miss it but.

To be honest I now have a company car which I haven't got to do anything to.

I do & don't miss the tinkering.

I spent a small fortune on it and i hope it's gone to a good home.

The fact I was a tech helped so everything but the re-map and paint I did myself.

I can still have a play with my 2 bikes though.

ah cool, yeah 2 bikes will keep you busy tinkering :)
