IMO.....
(And I say this carefully as we all know im not a fan of the word SLOW)
speed limits are there for a reason residentual areas, schools etc. People who speed in these areas deserve harsh punishments. Imagine your child, girlfriend, wife, mum whatever getting hit in a 30mph zone by someone doing 50 and being killed.
HOWEVER....
I think they should consider increasing the national speed limit slightly as they have abroad!
from bbc link :
The existing flat rate for speeding is three points on a licence and a £60 fine.
i've received more than 3 points and £60 fine for speeding in the past
is this the governments way of telling me i should of only recieved 3 points and £60 fine..?

Simple answer - Either don't speed or be a little more observant....

Simple answer - Either don't speed or be a little more observant....The problem with speed (sorry, I mean safety) cameras as opposed to the personal touch of a rozzer making you feel like a turd, is they are not as easy to slip a 20 quid note to, to forget they saw you.

Any police officer accepting a bribe should be repoted imediately! It undermines the ones that are attempting to uphold the law. :shooter

Not really money grabbing bastards with this idea. I'm all in faviour of it!
Yes i agree everyone does speed at some point, however why should someone who does 45-50mph in a 30 get the same penatly of someone who only drifed over by going 35?
You break it and get caught you deal with it.
The amount of phone calls/letters i get at work from people always winging that they can't pay a fine, they are law abiding citizens, have learnt their lesson, won't ever do it again, etc is crazy! If they hadn't have been caught they would have just carried on and not cared!
Simple answer = if you like your driving licence or can't afford to pay a fine, don't speed/undertake/pop wheelies etc on the road. Save the fun for the track or private property.

I couldnt care less to be honest, as long as any money they generate from it goes back into the transport infrastructure!
Look at germanys autobahn...its amazing, so well organized, maintained, run...blah blah blah!
compare that to our main routes!!.................i dont need to say anything else!
this is, i have a sneaky feeling part of this is to do with trying to cut traffic on our roads......what with congestion charging, pay as you drive, mega tax for big motors, the list goes on!
they keep banging on about using more public transport to help the environment but first they need to make public transport decent, reliable and cheap!
£20 to get into london the other day....its only 25 minutes away!!! and we were stuck at shenfield for the best part of 45 minutes with "power supply problems" i hate to think what icket prices are before 9:00am!
has there ever been a period where youre not stuck on a motorway because of roadworks?!........NO
i have a feeling this has totaly miseed the point and gone off in a complete tangent, but ive spent this time typing this and im not gonna go deleting it now!!!:grin2
Hopefully you get the jist!

I got a standard 3 points, £60 fine on mine (in my car) last summer.
Shortly afterwards I passed my bike test & when I declared it on my insurance the woman said to me "Oh don't worry, probably wont affect your premium at all if it's your first/only one as so many people have them now. We just kind of assume most people have one"
She was right, it didn't affect it at all.
