just found out today from one of my frineds that his aprilia 50 which is d-restriced and has a race can only done 100 miles (so the engine is still tight) does 70-75!!!!!

My bike is d-restricted has got a full titanium race can and has got a 80 bore kit and the engine is race tuned........

do the maths for yourself

my 50 WILL do 90-95

:D

yep thats right rich,
ya bike will prob get about 75-80mph.
then again my mate had a gillera runner 50cc n i tell ya summin that thing could shift like **** off a shovel it was well funny.
when he got it it wasnt runnig cos it had a stone stuck in the reed valves holding one fully open (dont no how the last person managed that) but when we finished with it,it got   sorry bout that by i still cant help but laugh it done 65mph that was just all standard parts just a little tweeking here n there and we cut off the restrictor pipe on the pipe n welded it up. i was laurghing cos the first test ride i was on my sisters X9 125 riding next to him (max speed thingy reset on the clocks) along this long road then we see a friend so pulled up n started chatting. im looking round my bike thinking F me this stinks, then he turns round n says do u think my exhaust should be smoking form all angles! then i realised it was his thing smoking like a trooper n i couldnt help but PMSL. then we get back to his n he's putting summin under the seat n realises there a sticker saying 50cc made to go 30MPH! was the fastest lil ped round the area and still is!

How do you know? Have you had it dyno'd and how much power is it putting out?

If this is the case then how come a 125 can only do about 100mph when they have 33bhp?

The clocks on bikes can be way out too.

like we have said before in another topic about this 95mph out of a 50 (or 80 whatever) does not seem right. Until people have proof from GPS or get caught by a speed camera or something I wont believe that a 50cc road bike can do 95mph.

Inocent till proven guilty though so I will have to say WOW thats fast for an RS50!

Not wanting to upset anyone, but why is it that all 50 riders claim they have the fastest 50 ever known to man :?:

I have a 1,000cc, I'm told it should be in the order of 132BHP, I've also been told it should be good for 160mph, but I have absolutely no intention of finding out :!: and I dont care if someone elses 1,000cc, or even a 600cc goes 5 mph more than mine, I like my bike, and I hope everyone else likes theirs and that we all ride safely.......Thats all that matters :!:

I know that the 30mph that a 50 is supposed to do is frustrating, I would even argue that 30 mph is dangerous on our roads, but 16 year olds (which I am assuming you are, but forgive me if I'm wrong) are limited to 50cc for good reasons to protect them from themselves, I know you are going to hate me for saying this but, I was 16 once too :!: .....be patient your time for a bigger machine will come :!:

Exactly my point the last time we had this conversation

Simon

LOL so therfore it should do those speeds neway thats not the point :?

Tark
20-12-2003, 01:01 PM
I dont even think that an 80cc with the reat of the bike being a 50cc spec should be able to do 95 mph.

Some 125's stuggle to do that.

Biker Dude
20-12-2003, 02:01 PM
i supose it could be possible. Bear in mind the power to weight ratio. THe RS50 frame is bout 50kg lighter than Rs125. The 50 being 95kg.

Tark
20-12-2003, 02:51 PM
if the gearing was right it could do but but accel would fall. On standard gearing it wouldn't be able to reach that speed cos of the ratio of the gears and max revs the enigne was putting out.

you could get a ts50 to have a max speed of 100 mph but the bike would be that slugish and a waste of time there would be no point.

thats what i said to him if i see it ill belive it! but i dont rekon he will gwet 90 out of it! but i will go along side him on one of my many 250's to confim the speed! any ways! bikes are restricted for a reason and it is to protect us from ourselfs! admit that! if ive got the power at the palms of my hands i will use it! and go crazy! hell i do! now lookin into a 400 but gonna restrict iit! but hell when si gets his 50 he gonna let me av ago so ill let ya know how it goes! but u do have a point! every 16yr thinks they have the fastes 50! and wouldnt an 80 cc big bore kit give it a little more grunt rather than top end speed oh and simons 15

Tark
20-12-2003, 07:57 PM
So he hasn't had the bike on the road yet?

and what is the maths that work out it will do 90-95?

check out www.af1racing.com the fastest they get there 70 or 80cc rs50 to is in the 90s but thats with the most expensive kit ya can get and the barrell has been further modified etc

lol been on si's 50 it does i think 65mph tops lol! (his excuse is it needs running in! ) keeps telling em its getting faster! n e ways the accelaration is ****! but then i have been on 250's for the past yr! so i spose i ahve to allow summmink! oh and he is gettin 125 carbs soon he rekons that will make it go faster probably will but i rkeon his acceleration will drop even more lol he has to rev to 12k to get a goood start off! LMFAO!

racing aprilia
27-01-2004, 08:40 PM
a 28mil 125 carb will overfuel the bike and will make it ride like a piece of {EB} better off getting a 21mm and gettin tiny bit of accel no more top end and a bigger thirst for fuel. would do better getting an arrow pipe imo

Spider
27-01-2004, 09:23 PM
erm i think it is a 21 mil carb im not sure i know it has 20 sumink in it sumwhere and he already got some racing exhaust cnt remeber what one tho?

Simon
28-01-2004, 10:51 AM
lol guys let me just clear up a few things as it is atm it does 65 70 pushing it.

atm it has got a malossi 80cc bore kit a full leo vince titanium racing exhaust and it is d-restricted and it does 65 im not going to bull**** no 1 cause i would just get found out wen i ride with nick.

sometime this week (hopefully (i have already ordered it)) i will be getting a molossi 21mm racing carb race reeds and a K&N air filter. i am also taking the bike to the shop in southend (kegra racing) and they r going to rejet and tune the 80cc kit the carb and the exhaust to the bike!!

im not even going to have a guess at what speed it will do but it will be quick

nick of course my bike feels slow u nob you have been riding 250's! neway enuf of that

Spider
28-01-2004, 02:02 PM
lol i said its prob due to me riding ma 250's boi!

Tark
28-01-2004, 02:05 PM
The top speed will be very similar to what it is now but it will rev better and get to top speed more quickly. If you find it is getting their too quickly and with ease then you will need to change your gearing to get the best out of it.

Seeing as you have just bought a new back sprocket and chain I would advise getting a front sprocket that has 1 more tooth on. This will increase top end speed but with all the racing bits on should pull it just as well.

Simon
28-01-2004, 04:27 PM
ok then tark thanks alot.......only problem is it has now got a new front and rear sprocket as well as a new chain and i cant afford to spend much more money atm

Tark
28-01-2004, 07:12 PM
A front sprocket for my 600 was only £11 so I would have thought it would be less for a 50.

Why waste money on a 50cc bike to get it to go as fast as u can?! Just wait until u can get a bigger bike!!!

What's the point? You're gonna flog it in a year i'm guessing?! and u won't get ur money back! AND that's assuming the thing hasn't given up by then in a puff of smoke (what with it being an Aprillia)!

Back to the point of all 16y/o claiming their 50cc bike is the fastest... well i ask, "Who cares?!" I was on a 50 (well a 70 after a big bore) about a year ago, the only reason why i tuned mine was cos around this hilly area, 30mph is dangerous! But I never claimed i had the fastest bike or boasted about what i had done! Coppers will love to nick u for it+everyone thinks ur an idiot and have none of these ppl seen the 50cc racers...?!?! They're fast!! And I know ppl that claim their bikes are the best etc., had someone try and convince me their twist and go was faster than my TZR!!! LOL! all of these ppl should have their license taken away until they are stoned repeatidly! OR, learn the laws of physics and learn SOMETHING about motorbikes and the combustion engine!!!

(Obviously just my opinion)! :D

yer, apologies about my rant!!!

But these "Scooter Crews" really get on my t*ts!!!

I'm sure every town has them, a bunch of 16y/o on their shiny new Gilera's and Peugot's that just go buzzing up and down the same road (our coast road) and through the town!

Tark
08-02-2004, 05:10 PM
Right past my house. (i live on the main road into town).

The best is the fact they are or like City Hoppers and thigs made for grandmas! LOL

Eww! Lucky you! Should invest in (or make) a set of strip spikes, that'll slow them down!!!  hmm... maybe that's a bit harsh, but hey, they deserve it!!!

Fortunately I live a little bit away from the main one they use, but still have the pleasure of their company whenever I go into the town!

Quite a funny story about them actually! My dad was on our Yamaha BiWiz one day, which we had tricked a little, came across the "Scooter Crew" and shot straight past them!!! was apparently highly amusing to see a 14-16 stone man on a H-Reg scooter go flying past all these brand spanking new shiny scooters!!! LOL!

my derbi gpr goes 75 and all tht as been done to it is tht it has been de-restricted. do you think the person who had it before me tuned it. it hasnt even got a race pipe

Biker Dude
18-10-2005, 09:27 PM
dunno if its in this post or not.. but my 2000 rs50 did 75 and all i did was derestict it. but the derbi i'd say it's either had the gear ratio's chaged or tuned mate

RaceMeNSee
19-10-2005, 08:52 AM
the older derbi GPR is the fastest 50cc bike ive ever seen they indycate 70ish on the speedo just from de-restricting them! probaly about 53 but they are faster than everything else that the hoody wearing culture of today ride!

What do all these 50cc peds actually have on the clock? The speedo on a ped is only designed to be effective below 40mph as that is all they are meant to do. Anything higher is pushing the speedo past what it was calibrated to read.

Take your peds down a dual carriage way with a car and see what speed you are really doing

2E
04-11-2005, 06:55 PM
OK TO SETTLE THIS ARGUMENT ONCE AND FOR ALL...

MY PED DOES 100MPH, IT IS DERESTRICTED, HAS A BORE KIT OF S.F.A AND WILL BEAT EVERY OTHER PED...

ONLY WORK I DID WAS RUN IT INTO A TELEGRAPH POLE...

CHECKED IT OUT AFTER (ENGINE OFF) THE SPEEDO SAYS 100MPH! SO I MUST BE GOING AT 100MPH AND ENGINE IS OFF, BIKE NOT RUNNING.

IT SORTED IT OUT FOR ME... I WAS TRAVELLING AT TOP SPEED.

TRY THIS METHOD, AND YOU WILL NEVER SAY YOUR BIKE DOES 75/95 AGAIN!!!!
