I havent heard that many particularly fantastic stories about them, although i suppose thats hearsay for you, if you are going to use Colchester then you would be far better going to Phil Seton ;)

Cheers. I thought Phil Seton was mainly for dyno/tuning rather than service work?

Ah well, in your vague post you made no mention of that you see ;) :D
Servicing in the Colchester area i would probably take it to Parkinson's, tuning and dyno work definitely Phil Seton.
A tuner earns a living on performance normally, and servicing of bikes is normally best left to mainstream servicing places, however i would suggest that most of it comes down to hourly labour rate, it wouldnt hurt to ring around a few places and find out what a service on a particular bike is going to cost ;)

I've used Mick and that up TT before.
They are ok if you want to be hassled into buying a full Akro system and you want to break down on the way home because they havn't put your bike back together properly for you.
Not malicious gossip. I spent an hour on the A12 in torrential rain once working out why I had broke down 15 minutes after having my bike run up on their dyno.

I suppose that all depends on if you know the people at Parkies well enough :)

TT that'll be Mick who used to work at a Sawdust company (then Redlines for a bit) and Gary (very quick rider mind) who came out of Parkies stores.:grin2
£2500 to tune a friend's XZR that had valve timing 5% out, smoked from the outset due to a piston ring they broke putting it together and made 12hp more when Dynotech put it together properly.
In fairness though others speak well of them, Gary and Mike are both nice blokes and ane even in what I would consider their heyday Parkies didn't manage to tune an NC30 that would last more than one race (despite Roger their long term mechanic being one of the best around IMHO)and I used Parkies all my road riding years and would again. (Even inspite of Jim's, then Kevin an Nick's constant attempts to bankrupt the brilliant shop started by Ron, Jim,s Dad.:grin2)
As Mick said, leave tuning to tuners and servicing to mainstream shops.
Trouble is people only ever mention things that go wrong and the satified customers tend to keep quiet.
Phil Seton has a good reputation now (e.g 600s quicker than ones built by Ten kate) but i still know people who wouldn't go there either. Paul who works for me being one of them.
If it was me I'd go with Phil for tuny stuff and Parkies for the rest (don't know Sean Davies) but at the end of the day it's probably a case of try em and see.

No not really.....A mate of mine has been a regular customer with them for years & know a couple of them and spent ALOT with them & they still take forever to do anything for him.
Not going into details etc as not the place...

i agree on Sean Davies, and on Parkys too. Sean is a diamond but my god is he a busy boy so can be hard to get booked in there!
Parkys have been great to me, i took my Gixer there because i bought it from them and needed to keep the warranty going and they're nearer than Orwells, plus they have been total stars on my race bike.
i wouldnt go back to Total Traction i'm afraid.
