At last I take ownership of the DR650 if I pass my test in the next few months.

Two things I need to know is can I get insurance for the bike being in my garden and not being used on the road. And two whats the name of the stuff I need to put on the rust to stop it going any further.

During the time I have the bike I am going to clean it up as much as I can so it looks a little better than it does now. Panels remove and clean, new exhaust, check all electrics are working.

Yes and hammerite. Get a cover, anything that looks like it can be nicked and ridden over the nearest wasteground is gonna attract unwanted attention.

I don't know a lot about different insurance types...but I would at least get 3rd party fire + theft insurance

Thanks for that one. Getting new ground anchor off ebay early next week and new chain too. Got cover off ebay too so will be covered and attached to some heavey concrete. Insuance I havent sorted as yet mainly cos I dont know the reg number of the bike. Will get this on Tuesday.

Then comes the next quesion as you all seem to have a GIXXER!!! Wheres the best place for parts? Dont mind making a trip out on the little old ped to get some bits for it. And I know that these will be a pain to get hold of due to the age of the bike. Thinks its a 94? plate. So some nice helpful Suzuki dealer would be great if someone can point me in the right direction.
