View Full Version : is there a website...
is there a website which will tell you what bike is the most economical out of two.. for example if you put in Honda VFR400 and Kawasaki ZXR400
All do you have to go and look it up and work it out yourself??:grin1

Yes.........by miles.
My 1200 (when it was standard) could do almost 160 to the tank. My 600 could hit 180 to the tank on a good steady run.

lol.. but i dont understand 'why' the kwak isnt that great on fuel.. i never run it down completely, BUT it costs 11 quid to fill her up from the half mark.
and will fuel prices rising.. who can blame me for wanting a bike that doesent guzzle the stuff..............:shooter

ELEVAN QUID FROM THE HALF MARK???? so it can take £22 thats a fooking big tank mate! i think if i run my C1h completely dry...it takes like £17! and if i ride it in summer mode...it does like 80 - 90 miles to the tank......when i ride it in...errmmm....tired mode...lol it can do upto 120-130 miles to the tank! my G ninja would do 120 miles to the tank evan if i hammered it! and like 150 if i took it easy! however my F ninja.....my oldest one........when i used it for work...and took it easy (just came off my old c1h) it managed 180 miles to the tank easily!!!!!! weird eh!?

lol well im going by the digital fuel gage, which i dont think is that accurate tbh... but i hardly pay attention to it, lowest ive run it is 2 bars on the fuel gage, and that was as i got stuck going the wrong way round the m25 and figured the easiest way to get off is just to keep going:grin2.. doh!!! (yes i know.. i didnt know it was THAT big then again i dont usually touch motorways!!) i had a full tank when i started the journey from basildon, so the entire way around the m25 .. had to refill at clacket lane lol

You need to just see what you're getting in miles per gallon, then you can see if it's bad or not. Fill it up properly, zero your trip meter. Next time you fill it up make a note of how many gallons you put in and what the trip meter says. Divide the miles recorded by the number of gallons. Of course, fuel pumps read in litres so you will have to convert to gallons first.
Zero the trip meter again and repeat a few times to get an average.
Your CG125 would be mega frugal compared to a 550 though. I'm getting about 50-52 mpg on my Africa Twin, used to get about 42mpg on my FJ12. I do a lot of miles so fuel consumption concerns me more than it used to. I reckon I use about 40 quids worth of fuel a week.

Ride magazine used to give figures when testing secondhand bikes.
My GPz750 used to have the LCD bar fuel gauge, never used to move for ages then rocketed down. It looked flash but it was still attached to an old fashioned float on a bit of coathanger. One speedhump taken too fast, it flies up, gets bent and the LCD starts behaving differently.
