SRX Choke Cable

Mine has always been a bit stiff but now its snaped at the carb end!

I have took my tank off and had a good route round but I have no idea of how to get the nipple out of the carb or fit a new cable! :cry:

My bike wont start in the mornings without the choke!

I might do. It looks to be a tricky one though. I mihgt just put it in the garage and forget about it for a while over Christmas.

I have managed now. I cant get hold of a new cable for a while so I made one up from a push bike brake cable and too a grinder to the nipple to get it the right size and used the original outer. :wink:

Turns out that to get it out you just pull it once the outer cable etc is tacken off and the whole choke piston thing comes out. The nipple is only held in by the sides of the pistoin bend inwards. One the nipple is in and the piston in the carb with spring and outer cable on it cant pull the nipple out and just pulls the choke pison against the spring.

the only problem is that cos the push bike cable only had a nipple at one end and the original choke cable had a nipple at both ends, I have a bit of cable with a block connector dangling off the side of my bike by the handle bars! :roll:

This is only a short term thing until I find a nipple with a grub screw or something or Buy the original part. Then I will be able to make this end off into the choke lever on the handle bars.

The Main thing is that I am back on the roads! :twisted:

Yeah, like u say, at least ur back on the road again!! I might have one of those grub screws at home. I'll have a look for ya. I'll send u it along with the check for my hat & cap!! ;)

Well.

I have used a bit of electrical block connector. Cut the plastic off and cut it in half. ground it down so it was round and now its my new nipple! :lol:
