I don't like Nokia so I would be wrong to say they are crap.(all the ones I've had kept freezing up and turning themselves off.....same goes for Motorolas.)
The new sony K850i seemed ok till I saw my mates and I've gone off it now although my K810i was a good phone.

I've just got a new Samsung G600 with a 5mp camera. It has it's good and bad points. I suppose it's down to personal preference and experiences.

My Son has had a couple of Sony Ericssons and they are not very robust, they break easily.

I swear by my Nokia, and swear about my Motorola!

And if you have it in your pocket and get caught out in a shower, and the phone gets wet as stuff in your pockets often does on a bike, then wave goodbye to a £300 phone.

Good points.

Takes pictures, video, makes calls, sends text messages, is slim, battery live is very good, very nice looking phone, radio, mp3 player, bluetooth, some good security features, ext memory, nice big clear screen, slide phone, file management, etc etc

Bad Points.

Won't do video calls, you can't have a ringtone for the text message only the crap preset ones and it can be a bit slow working through the menu.

BUT. I have always found Samsungs reliable if nothing else although the G600 is a bit slim, I wouldn't like to drop it too many times. It's easy to use and have a nice clear sound when your talking on it. My Sony K810 lasted 2 months at work and I wrecked it. So I doubt the samsung will last much longer although I have stopped keeping it in my pocket on site and around the workshop when I'm welding etc which should help. I can hear it ring over the top of a 9" grinder going aswell which is good.

The new sony ericsson k850i is the nuts, ****es all over the new samsung hands down.......I got one & it's the tits, no problems so far, i've been through tons of phones & it's the same with all of them, look after it & it will work fine, get it covered in **** at work & it wont!

I wont have anything other than sony ericsson now, samsung are ****e, you cant even change the msg tone & Nokia are all the same & the fancy 3g Nokia's crash at every opportunity...

Ite Jonny boy lol

I have three mates that have just got the new k850i (the one with the touch screen menu button) and they all seem too crash! i may just be coincidence but they do!!

I'm still thinking the viewity mate no one has one really and they look better the k850i looks just like n e other erricson but obviously i dont have n e first hand experience with the viewity. all i can suggest is go into a shop and ask to have a look at it and they will give u a walk through of it and u can have a play too!

hello from me again....

on a serious note i work for europe prmier mobile phone retailer and the LG is crap............
honest i know it's really pants ...
great if you put down your trouser and use up all your free scum vouchers before buying a new one.

It might make your short culies sway but it's taking touch screen abit to far

on a more serious note don't get one there's easy ways to get shafted

on an even more serious note.......

I'M BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK :laugh2

OK I'll keep this short and sweet. ITS A FECKING PHONE TO MAKE CALLS ON WHY DO THEY HAVE TO HAVE A LOAD OF CRAP ON THEM!!!!!!

Nokia I've used for years and swear by them. The wife had a LG for a while and the clarity on them is fantastic. You loose a lot of back ground noise off these for some reason. So I would go Nokia for preacticailty and LG for the user friendlyness of them.

looks like a good phone but

1- no one has another skypephone so not all calls are free only to other skypephone members and
2- 3 NEVER HAS N E SIGNAL!!!!

I can't agree with that John. My personal phone is Vodafone (which is fine for signal) but my company phone is o2 and the signal is a nightmare most places I go.

I suppose it's where you live and work though at the end of the day.

(By the way, although sonys are good phones, Samsungs are very reliable. My misses has had one for over 2 years without fault.)

I have the Sony K850i. No problems so far I have had sony phones for at least 6 years if not more.

The only thing I will say (being a tech guy I am sure you are aware) due to the 5mp camera the pictures take up more memory so buy the largest memory card that you can afford, or be prepared to download your pics on to your comp more often.

Interaction with the PC is very easy.

It takes a couple of weeks to get used to the slightly different layout, in comparison to other sony phones. If you dont put the key lock on, due to the touchscreen, it can work its way through parts of the menu in your pocket.

It is bigger and heavier than I thought but it is a great phone.

well I am sending this reply via my iPhone the only thing I don't really like is the actual speaker on the phone itself, it has to be loud and held to the ear at the right angle or it is hard to hear the person on the other end.

apart from that it is a great toy. 02 will even end your contract early.
