Hi all,

I did say hello a while back but haven't posted for a while seeing as I haven't had a bike.

Right I'll give you my brief life story,

I was at uni for 2 years in Portsmouth I had a Yamaha RXS100 my first year then a Triumph Speed Four my Second, I got both these bikes about a month before I went to uni. I have no biking friend at home (Hornchurch) but loads in Portsmouth. After I came back from uni (June this year) I was skint so didn't really ride. I got a job in London which I started at the end of August. Beginning of september I got knocked off going round a roundabout not my fault and the claim still hasn't been settled. I had a hire bike for 3 months but apparantly they don't loan out hire bikes for more than 3 months which left me bikeless I hate trains and work nights in london so I have had to get something new sharpish, I won and ER5 on ebay went to collect and it had a crack in the engine casing . I am hopefully picking up a nice clean GS500E on thursday.

Right I need a bit of Info, does anyone know anywhere local I can get a cheap dyno run done? I need to prove the GS is 33bhp (I'm only 20) I should only need 1 run 2 tops.

Also do you guys meet regulary for rides I would love to come along if and when I get my S4 back.

For now,

Hi Chris & Welcome,

I am a bit confused, you say you are 20, when did you pass your test? you are only restricted for 2 years. If the bike is restricted to 33bhp then all a dyno run is going to prove is that it is indeed producing 33bhp.

Just wait until your 2 years is up and get the restrictors out.

These might be able to help you www.dynospeed.co.uk (http://www.dynospeed.co.uk)

Kas

I think that he needs this dyno run to prove it is only running 33bhp for insurance purposes.

Would this be correct Chris ??

I past my test when I was 19 I still have 9 restricted months left, I just want proof the bike is restricted for police/insurance purposes. I can't for my restriction to end as I need the bike now to get to work. The bike does not come restricted I am going to beg/borrow/steal/make some restrictors and put it on a dyno to prove 33bhp (It beats paying £200+ for a kit!)

...Ok I've caught up now :grin1

I may have a pair of ER5 restrictors about, I will check with my Son later, I wouldn't mind betting they would be almost identical.

Hi Chris...you should really have your bike fully certified as being restricted to 33bhp...it's so expensive to restrict due to the admin charges involved with this.

However, my brother has his restricted carbs form his '94 GS500E in the garage. If you need these, then I'll see if I can get them for you mate...but you won't be able to use the certificate due to it having my bro's bike details on, not your's.

Let me no...

Ant

Thanks for the offers of help guys, I hopefully have someone sending me the washers, but if this falls through. I have read through the licencing law, and there is nothing that says how or what you need to have to prove your bike is 33bhp, in vague it is so vague it doesn't even tell you if it is 33bhp at the crank or wheel! I'll let you know if I still need the restrictors, even if someone could give me the measurements of them so I could knock some up myself, it would be helpful.
