Hey!
Wondering if any1 could help me.
I've been round to a few brakers, tryinf to source a
servo unit and the other bitz for my powervalve.
I've found a place that has wot looks like just the the motor.
It's got a few wires with a plug/socket at the end of it.
Does that plug into your wiring harness or are there some kind
of black box that it plugs into? :? :? :? :? :?
I've been told about 2 black boxes that I need - wot are they?

The breakers have the powervalve as well, but its not got the rest of the bits where the cable fits on! To be honest... It looks exactly like mine!
Is there a difference - beside for the levers that
bolt on for the 2 cables etc... :? :? :?

Is there any1 that could post a few pics of the whole system
so that I can get an idea of wot I need?

Thanx!!!

The older tzr's like mine have a groups of wires ready to plug the servo into already built into the loom this is located under the tank behind the coil sort of area on my model. The powervalve itself is the same as the one in the bike already, the only difference is that the blanking plate on the left hand side of the powervalve (As u sit on) gets removed and the weird turny bit where the cables fit into either side replaces it this does away with the little locking pin allowing the valve to turn and the servo actually turns it. the servo motor mounts on the frame under the tank bolting onto the two holes provided, connect both ends then link them up with the cables and HEY PRESTO! If you have done it right then when you turn on the ignition you will hear a little whirring noise happening while the powervalve resets itself :D
Hope this helps

Also make sure you bike isnt restricted... cos if you're going to bother fitting a ypvs motor, you mihgt as well get the bike running with an much bhp as possible ;)

Dead simple to fit, just make sure when you fit the motor that the powervalve is the right way up. (Ignore the text on this image about the piston)

http://www.essexbikers.co.uk/members/jay/POWER%20VALVE.jpg

If your bike is de-restricted, this is what it will look like if its upside down:
http://www.essexbikers.co.uk/members/jay/POWERVALVEWRONG.jpg

This is what the powervalve should look like when you take the cover off that MELLERS was describing above - its here that the new adjuster goes:

http://www.essexbikers.co.uk/reference/tzrr/pv1.jpg

When its on, it will look summit like this:

http://www.essexbikers.co.uk/reference/tzrr/pv3.jpg

You'll notice theres a screw hole in the top, dont put a bolt in here. You should be able to see in that pic that theres a u shaped hole at the top of the adjuster. When you turn the ignition on for the first time after fitting the motor, keep the cover off and watch that hole line up with the hole behind it. It should like just like it does above... the U shaped hole on the adjuster should line up dead central at the top. If it doesnt, I think you adjust the cables above, but ive never had to so i wouldnt know. What i do know is they should not be too loose or too tight.

Lastly - dont screw that bolt in the middle in too tight, as you are screwing into alloy and you may thread it. Tighten it with your fingers, that should suffice.

Let me know how you get on.

Cya!

Cheers for all the help!!! :P
It turns out that my powervalve had been turned!
I took the covers off and put everything back like the
Haynes manual says (normal position) and gave the bike a blast...
Wicked acceleration!!! :P
But as soon as I hit 70mph... That was it.
Didn't go any further than that, plus I ran out of road!
I soon changed it back!

Back to servo's now...
Is the motor and servo, 1 complete unit - or are they seperate?
C ya!

Right....
I think I'm almost there!
I've got the thing that sits on the side of the powervalve...
I've got the motor...
I don't have the cables... but I've ordered them...
And I've got 1 black box???
It's got 4 wires going into a plug and 1 loose wire with a push-on
connector...
My problem is, I'm not sure whether it's the right box or not!
The wires don't match up to the ones under my seat!
The 4 wires on the box, leading to the plug has the colors:
Blue; Black; Green; Blue&Yellow
The loose wire is Brown.

The wires under my seat have 2 plug sockets and 2 loose wires...

The smaller socket has 2 wires: Black; Brown.

The 2 loose wires are: Red&White; Black&White.

The bigger socket has 4 wires:
Black&Brown; White&Black; Yellow&Blue; Black&Red.

I imagine the colors should be matching up...
Is this right?
What is the other plug socket for, sat is under my seat?
Is there supposed to be another box?

Any clues????
Thanx!

Right im not sure of the colours but there is 2 different type of ypvs motor now the first one is the type that comes with a seperate ypvs controler unit IE ( a black box that sits under the seat its about 2 1/2 inchs long 2 1/2inchs wide and about 1 inch tall has 4 wires coming out of it that go into a 4 pin connector there should be a 4 pin connector under ur seat .. coming out of the main wiring loom ... if not someone may have cut it off :S
then ur ypvs servo motor that came with this box should have a 4 pin connector ... that then plugs into the ypvs motor ... then all u should have left is the single pulse wire usually red and white or black and yellow .. plug this together and presto u should be done ..

(ONE PROBLEM THO THAT I HOPE U DONT HAVE ... FOR SOME REASON PPL THINK THAT THE RD350 YPVS MOTOR WILL WORK ON THE TZR125L AND IT DOESNT ) dunno if thats what someone has sold u but hope not ..

The other type of servo unit like the 2 i have have the black box (servo control unit) built into the servo its self so all u have to do is plug it in at the front of the bike an its done....

Ive got an old tzr here if ur still having problems ill lift the tank off it and take some pics for ya ...Its using the newer type servo i just mentioned the one without the (servo control unit ) but i can take sum pictures to show wire colours connectors etc ....

Ive just thought ive also got the old type servo and the controler unit that comes with it and a wiring loom so tommorow ill get it all out and take some pictures of how it all clips together ... thats if u havnt sorted it by then ...

quote :The 2 loose wires are: Red&White; Black&White. the red&white is to ur servo but the black&white is ur CDI earth (kill wire) check and see if that wire has come away from ur CDI unit ... (controled discharge ignition unit) ... i think ull find the black and white wire has come from there ... the lose wires should be white & red or black & red or black & yellow ... as i said tho im not sure of wire colours but i do know for a fact that black and white is not part of the picture .. black and white is allways the colour of an ignition earthing wire ...

But as i said ill have alook l8r and take some pictures for ya ;)

I think things are starting to make sense now...
I have 1 connection under my tank where the motor seems to fit...
All the wires match up, including the 1 loose wire.
So I assume that part is right!
The are no other loose plugs under my tank...

The only other plugs I have, are the 2 under the front half
of my seat and they come with 2 loose wires.
Everything dangles right next to my flasher unit.
The bigger plug has the same amount and the same
color wires as the motor's plug.
1 of the loose wires matches up with the 1 for da motor.

That leaves me with only 1 loose wire (black&white)
NB: I've checked... not from the CDI.

and a small plug with 2 wires (black; brown)

NB: I have seen other wiring harnesses with a wire that leads
almost to the back of my bike...
But my bike does not have those wires...
The black box that I have fits onto those wires,
but as I say, I don't have them

BTW - How do you know if it's a RD350 motor?

Thanks for da help!
