My son brought Dawn's old silver SV (K1 I think) from her in the summer, and he has pretty much ridden it every day since.

The other day he came home from work and said that sometimes the speedo stops working, I took it for a quick ride and the speedo worked.

He came in from work last night and said that it had stopped working again.

I have sprayed some WD40 around the pickup on the front wheel to see if this cures it, but I'm lost other than that.

Any idea's?....................

Is the K1 a curvey?

If so check that the speedo cable isnt working loose at the back of the speedo itself, I had a ZZR used to do that all the time. Just check that it is screwed up nice and tight.

Yes its the last of the curvy models.............

It doesn't appear to be a cable, its looks like it might be electronic cos the cable coming from the front wheel is more like a wire

Its actually done with a magnet and sensor pick up. Been looking into it recently for other reasons, but even to buy non suzi parts is not cheap.
