Has anyone fitted a sports rack to their K6/K7 gixxer 600/750 and if so what make, how much and any pics ?
I'm thinking of getting one for ireland this year and a few other trips I have planned and want to keep the luggage off the paintwork a bit as I'm gonna have to take the tent on a couple of trips aswell as my throw overs etc etc.
(And yes......I've decided to keep the bike for now and suffer the pain :-)

I have the bags. Got a set of oxford Humpback things, panniers and top bag. I want to get a sports rack though aswell. Probably either a Rentec or ventura.
Heres the luggage on one of my Bandits on the way to Ireland.
(you two didn't read my first post properly did you) :-)

I looked into sports racks myself a while ago......and...
I couldnt find any...
Grab rails / sissy bars yes you can get those for the K6 / K7
As for actual sports racks I looked around and found a site in the states that 'showed' they had a sports rack for a K6 / K7 but with no pictures and there was nothing to buy when you clicked on the icons...:reading
www.revsperformance.com (http://www.revsperformance.com)
I then spoke to a chap at Suzuki Cresent who said they arent really a good idea as ...and his words were...'Have you seen how flimsy the arse is on a K6 or K7? Would you really wanna slap a sports rack on it?:laughboun
The only ones that might possible be custom jobs and I didn't find out if Suzuki intend to make a specific rack. But apart from that I didnt investigate it much further as I am chuffed to bits with my panniers and the weight stays in the right places..:laugh2

My exact reason for wanting one micky. So think how easy the plastics could break with filled up panniers laid over them for a long trip. When I used mine on that Bandit and went to Ireland, they ruined my plastics. I had to get the seat unit re-sprayed.
Rentec are listing them, but show no pics, so I might email them. They normally fit to the seat subframe.

........Or if you fancy spending a bit more you can get the all famous ventura packs and rack systems.

I think this is the key factor "WEIGHT".
When I go away I sometimes take the tent, sleeping bag, spare boots or trainers to walk about in, couple of sets of cloths, wash gear, chain wax, padlock and chain, waterproofs, maps, spare cloths, spare visor, phone charger, camera and charger etc etc etc .......... you get the idea :grin2
So if I get say a rentec rack, at least I could distribute the weight a bit, ie; put the tent and sleeping bag on that, otherwise I'll end up with a 6ft pile of baggage behind me aswell.
For £55, it could save me a lot of money in the long run. As I said before, that pic of bandit shows me on way to ireland in 2005. I used that webbing stuff but where it rained heavy on the way to ireland all the luggage rubbed the paintwork off behind the seat.
And LOL yeah ....... Forgot to mention my hairdryer :grin1

To give you an idea, heres another shot of the bike with the panniers removed. You can see what was left sitting on the seat plastics. Ok I should have taped the plastics up, but besides that I could have cracked the plastics.
