I use an oxford humpback platinum.

Proper bit of kit.

Thats the one I use, I think it is good one but then its up to the individual.

It does what I need it to do, carries enough gear to last a weekend

Yeah you can shop around for them and get good deals.
The humpback has the map pocket, is expandable, waterproof, comes with a clear stormproof cover, turns into a rucksack to make it easy to carry around, has 2 die pockets and a small front pocket plus the main compartment. I use mine more on the pillion seat where it sits nice and snug especially with a spider net over the top of it.
(spider net also handy for shoving spare gloves and waterproofs under etc).

Heres another pic but in different colour. Get the platinum if you can though. Has a better map pocket.

Don't have / use a tank bag but for carrying a chain I use the proper Kreiga chain bag.
Not cheap but top quality and dont fall off.

I put my chain and lock in the humpback no probs.

Suppose it depends on how big your chain is.

Try it with an Almax and I doubt the bag will stay on the tank long.....

fair play. I can only afford cheap chains though and to be honest very rarely need to use them anyway. When I do it's normally in conjunction with about 6 other bikes and 6 other chains all locked up together so it's a case of take all 6 bikes or shop elsewhere Mr.Villian.
