hello!
my name is steve and iv'e got a tzr 125 '88 model
mines got a small hole in it on the left hand side, i was told that if i sand it down to the metal i could stick a bit of solder in there and that should do the trick, or do you reckon its fooked?
what are the chances of patching it up with a bit of solder?
if anybody has any ideas let me know!
cheers
steve

if u can get the solder to bond then it'll work, but i wouldn't use that as a permanent fix no way!
it can be welded, but be absolutely sure the fuel has been fully drained and all the fumes are gone too! takes a few days to be sure.

Orrrrrrrrrrr.... find a replacement tank. There's plenty about. It'll be easier!

will have a go at soldering it but it is an old tank, there's paint cracking on it and stuff, doubt that it would last long anyhow!
cheers for the advice
steve
Id be careful, even with a soldering iron :shocked!:
Fibreglass might be an option too.

fibreglass is a good suggestion, chemicle metal is pretty good **** n tuff as u like just make sure u get it pretty smooth when applying or u will end up with a mound to grind down, soldering means u gotta remove all fule n washout with water.
if paint is flaking n cracking it usually means the metal is pretty thin or slight or mojor surface rust has occured inside or outside the tank.
BEST THING,GET ANOTHER TANK THERE ALWAYS ON EBAY OR ASK SPIDER IF HE'S STILL GOT THAT BREAKERS YARD!
