This is my 1988 E-reg GSXR400 GK73A. It is a Japanese model which wasnt made in this country (grey import).
I have owned it since december 2002 and its been a rollercoaster ride of good and bad feeling lol!
When i bought it, it had a running problem! 4 months on, it still has a running problem but a slightly different
one!

Things i like about the bike - Altho a bit dated, i like the twin headlamps look - they are a bit big and 80's
but my god do they light up the world when you are on a dark country lane travelling at speed! I like the general
shape of the bike, tailpiece bulges out then in again altho back light could be the newer 90's shape. Tank aint
bad either - again the 90's shape would be better - frame is good, looks kool shaped well, strong and light. As
far as i can tell it should ride nicely - it feels confident but at the moment the running problem is stopping
me being able to feather the throttle on corners. As we all know this makes cornering a nightmare due to the
on/off snatching on the throttle causing the bike to feel very unsteady in the corners. Since partially sorting
the carburation, i can use the power in the corners a bit more and it is beginning to show its cornering ability
at long last. I Read somewhere that you cannot ride a small GSXR half heartedly, if you do, it will handle badly
and leave you nervous of it. The way to ride it is to slump yourself low over the tank, lean forward and really
lean with the bike and it will handle very well around corners. You will find yourself grinning like mad after
riding like you mean it! :)

The power is good for a 400 - i am told its one of the faster 400's but then suzuki engines are usually pretty
dam good, rev high and can take some punishment! This bike revs to 18k and its not hard to get it there whether
you mean to or if it is an accident! Almost keeps up with 600's but its fast enough for me at the moment!

Things i Dont like about this bike - Running problems and sourcing parts and information!! - Parts are a nightmare
altho help is at hand - Bat Motorcycles 01959 572313 (cant remember where abouts they are!) are pretty good
for parts and information. There are some websites with vital information on the GSXR OWNERS 'CLICK HERE' link.
These have helped me alot so far and im happy to see that there are some good people out there offering help for
us poor imported gixer 400 owners! lol!

Tim (FingerZ!)

P.S - Please excuse the mirror - its temporary until i can source a mirror that fits and actually looks half decent!
